Starting a personal ghost blog and Notepad

Been on Wordpress then medium and later substack but now starting with Ghost again.

I came across four zero two (Robert Bowling) a community manager who build Call of Duty Social Media and helped with the recent shutdown of the Midnight Society Game, Dead Drop With Dr Disrespect.

He writes about creating a blog for Long form expression and the end of social media.

The End of Social Media:
A lot of people reading this entry at the time of it’s publishing are most likely reading it out of curiosity. I’ve cleansed my Twitter feed, my Bluesky feed, made my YouTube videos private, deleted my TikToks, YouTube shorts, Instagram and Threads account. Then I started… a blog?

I’ve missed long-form expressions. I’ve missed non-social media. Where a creation can be made, exist, and die without the creator ever knowing if it impacted a single soul. I miss not knowing your opinion of my creative output or even knowing that you know its existence.

I want to be able to share, but I don’t need to know how many people read it or saw it, how many liked it or disliked it; I don’t need anyone to share it or subscribe to it. I just want to know if it exists for those looking for it. I do not say that out of malice or hatred. I do not think anyone’s opinion is nasty, negative, or unwarranted. It’s just that when it comes to my passions, I need a place to share them devoid of monetization or advertising. I don’t want it to be “content”.

This website and notepad will become the archive for everything I have a hand in creating and celebrating the last 25 years of creations. From the moment my dad told me that “you don’t call in sick, you get up and you do the work”. From that first record label, Classic Filth, that I started in my bedroom of a doublewide trailer in Piner, Kentucky, to today when I’m releasing more projects across a wider range of mediums than I’ve ever done in the past. New Games, New Music, New TV Shows, New Platforms.

From time to time, I’ll do a deep dive into past projects, talk about their formations, their successes and failures, the lessons that came from them, and the ‘inside baseball’ about how all of it happens behind the scenes.

I do agree with him and thought about making a place just to express without knowing how many likes or reach I might potentially get and without following trends.

Initally I was using medium or substack would be the answer, but medium went to crap with spam and the ai filters don’t work that well. Substack is becoming Social Media and I feel these platforms will ask you to pay up or crush Organic reach. Trying to get accepted into publications was time consuming.

The only thing I like about medium is if this blog dies, there can be an archive still available where my love ones or close friends cand find my notes and thoughts.

Ghost Blog

That is why I decided again to write a blog hosted. Who knows who will read it. It may die in itself.

I am also lately getting tired of algorithms and social media. I do know pekple get distracted with social having to click and like different post the algorithm feeds them I hope someone reads this and gets something out of the sharing.

Short Video Killed the Internet Youtuber Star

I do feel just writing has changed a lot in the las 20 years of the internet. Now I feel that one has to do video to be discovered.

I am interested in making more videos rather than blogging so I do hope to put more media into this blog besides text or images.

I am starting up that Youtube Channel CG BOSS more and trying a weekly schedule.

Monetisation

I actually created and deleted this blog and others a few times, due to costs worry.

It takes some cash to run a blog not a lot these days unlike the early wordpress days. Hopefully it will be a good run before I shut down as a consolation I will put the writing not behind a paywall on medium for back up if I cannot monetise this.
